QUALIFICATIONS
Tariq became a coach because during his 25-year business career, it was coaching and developing his teams and team members which he excelled at and loved doing the most. He got a real thrill from partnering with people and seeing them break through barriers to achieve their most important professional and personal goals. So, he decided to make the part he was most passionate about the whole job rather than just a component of it.
Tariq has a deep business leadership background with experience of P&L responsibility, strategy development and leading organisational and cultural transformation in both start-ups and large corporations. His career has spanned management consulting, an MBA from Wharton, starting up a mobile phone operator in war-torn Afghanistan and executive roles in Google and Expedia Group. The one constant has been the need for him and his teams to constantly adapt to unforeseen, difficult and fast-changing situations ranging from launching new businesses in highly competitive markets, leading organisational transformation for a multi-thousand person division to negotiating the release of staff who were being held hostage by warlords. He has used the diversity of these experiences to build resilience, focus, calmness, empathy and the ability to constructively challenge. He endeavours to bring all these qualities to both executive coaching and organisational and cultural transformations.
COACHING & DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
Tariq believes that to achieve the change you want, you have to balance deep reflection with commitment to action. As a coach, he facilitates a series of confidential one on one conversations to help you reflect on who you are, how others see you and the system in which you operate, as well as helping you to take practical steps to ensure your progress. He has been told by my clients that he creates a calm, safe, yet challenging environment for them to do their best thinking and achieve the change they seek.
